Tribute & Message From The Family

Stephen Martiny, 81, of Marysville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 12, 2017.

He was born August 4, 1935 in Grand Rapids to the late Walter and Marion Martiny. He married Nancy Stuart on May 6, 1958 in Madison Heights.

Mr. Martiny graduated from Maryville High School in 1955 and was employed with Eaton Vickers until his retirement in 1987.

Besides the love Stephen had for his wife and family, he had a love of trains which he traveled often to see. Even as a child, he had a fascination with Donald Duck which continued to his death. Being from Marysville, he would enjoy being near the water and watching the boats pass by, which was a trait he shared with his children and grandchildren.

Stephen had a strong spiritual belief. He attended Central Lakeport United Methodist Church for many years. He eventually became certified as a lay minister.

He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Nancy; children, Clifford (Martha) Martiny, Debra (Jack) Willis, Evelyn (Wayne) Mihalovic, Chuck Martiny, Kim (Doc) Young, and Julie (James) Weltmer; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Jeanne) Martiny; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole Martiny, Howard (Rebecca) Stuart and Barbara Sulkowski. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Martiny and Frank Martiny; and sister-in-law, Charlene Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 15, 2017 in Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. The Reverend Robert Streeter, Stephen's nephew, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Michigan. To send condolences, please visit www.marysvillefuneralhome.com
